You can also see it in action with the RWJ Find Your Way Video:

In addition RWJUH has deployed MediNav iPad Kiosks in its lobby and will be adding the Web site version later this summer.

This launch makes Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital the first hospital in North America to deliver for its patients, visitors and staff the world's first true turn-by-turn indoor navigation smartphone application, with reliable indoor positioning accuracy of 1 to 2 meters. Powered by Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacons and Polestar handset sensor fusion technology, MediNavTM Navigator v. 2.0 is the most advanced indoor navigation application available, with rich features that users have come to expect from Google or Apple in the "outdoor world".

The launch is a hugely important milestone for Connexient, in that it represents the culmination of everything we have learned. There is a huge difference between a good looking demo, and making indoor positioning work reliably and accurately at scale in real-world environments, and there is no substitute for doing the hard work to get there.

As our CEO and Co-Founder, Mark Green put it, “RWJUH has been a fantastic partner and collaborator in realizing the vision of true indoor navigation and how it can improve the Patient Experience. Even more exciting is their commitment to the continued evolution and application of our platform for Indoor Location-based Services to solve problems and bring ROI to the Enterprise as a whole.”

Joanne Arico, RN, BSN, Director of Patient Experience at RWJUH added “The launch of MediNav is the first step in a journey to use indoor navigation and location-based services to benefit all of the stakeholders at RWJUH. Our focus for 2015 is to enhance our patient experience, as well as improve staff efficiency and prevent late and missed appointments.”

So today is important milestone along our path, to look back and around, and be thankful for how much we have grown. But we are looking forward even more to the path ahead!

Connexient announced today that the National Institutes of Health has selected our MediNav™ Digital Wayfinding and Indoor Location-based Services solution for its Clinical Center Complex (CCC) on the NIH Campus in Bethesda, MD.  The CCC is comprised of 3.5 million square feet of mixed occupancy space in three congruent buildings on the NIH campus including a clinical, laboratory, administrative space with 240 inpatient beds, 82 day-hospital stations and 15 outpatient clinics and more than 5,000 rooms.

Of course, we are honored, thrilled and excited to be selected -  and eager to get to work!  There are several factors that make this win and project particularly important for Connexient.

First, the NIH Campus is an extraordinarily complex facility that frequently confounds arriving patients, visiting physicians and even staff.  Besides creating stress and frustration, this is a challenge that has direct impact and cost on the efficiency of its operations.  This is a situation where MediNav can really have enormous positive impact.

Second, Connexient was selected after an exhaustive search, review, and evaluation over a dozen companies that responded to an open RFP, based on the quality and breadth of its solution for Indoor Navigation and Digital Wayfinding.   A particularly important factor was Connexient’s ability to enable other Enterprise IT to consume its navigation quality maps and location services, which will bring increasing ROI and benefits to the NIH as we move forward with our strategic roadmap.

Finally, this is one of the first clients for Connexient where we will start with a campus-wide deployment, and also have a mandate to look towards a network-wide deployment.  So we can realize together with the NIH the full potential of MediNav to deliver value to users and ROI to the organization.

So, all in all, the NIH contract represents to us the fruition of 3 years of shaping and focusing our solution to meet real world needs of our clients, where we now we have our first opportunity to deploy all the pieces from the start.

Needless to say, we find that to be pretty exciting!

Another Important Milestone for Connexient

We are proud and honored to announce today another important milestone for Connexient: our new partnership with Intelligent Insites for sales collaboration and product integration around Connexient’s MediNav solution and the InSites operational intelligence platform.

As in our partnership with Stanley Healthcare, the driving force behind this partnership for both of our companies is serving the needs of our clients and end users.

Not Surprisingly, Indoor Positioning, Navigation and Maps Are a Key Part of Operational Intelligence

This is something we've been preaching for a long time. While Indoor Navigation may be the first "killer application" for navigation-quality indoor maps and positioning, the real Enterprise ROI comes as you bring these capabilities into other applications across Operations, Security, Clinical Workflow and so on. We call this Location-enabling Enterprise IT.

Within this framework of integration, the benefits flow in many directions to our respective products and mutual clients and end users. It creates entirely new levels of value in Enterprise data analytics, visibility and actionable intelligence, while simultaneously enabling powerful new use cases and user experiences.

We've talked a lot about this and will continue to do so with our clients and in our blogs. Being able to work actively together with partners like Intelligent Insites to realize, however, takes us beyond talking about it and into the process of delivering these benefits.

So stay tuned!

Sales Collaboration and Product Integration to Deliver Enterprise ROI

When you are building a new company - and a new "space" like Indoor Navigation and Location-based Services - there are some milestones that really matter. Today, we are proud to announce one of those: our new partnership with Stanley Healthcare.

Of course for a young company like Connexient, the opportunity to work with a partner who can bring our solution to over 17,000 hospitals is tremendously exciting. Equally exciting to us, however, is the shared vision between our companies of how integrating Indoor Navigation - and Navigation-quality mapping and positioning - together with other location-based application can deliver compelling value for users and increase Enterprise ROI for our clients.

Gabi Daniely, Vice President of Solutions, Products and Marketing at STANLEY Healthcare summed this up nicely:

“Smartphones and other mobile technologies that are BLE enabled are transforming how patients access hospital information and interact with healthcare providers. Connexient’s MediNav solution is the perfect complement to our existing Wi-Fi based solutions for Patient Flow, Asset Management, Environmental Monitoring, Hand Hygiene Compliance Monitoring and Patient and Staff Security. Our partnership with Connexient will help our clients further improve staff communication, automate processes, accelerate responsiveness, increase security and streamline workflow across the entire continuum of care.”

So while we take a quick pause today to celebrate an important milestone, we are eager to get to work on realizing the potential of this partnership.

Please come see us at the Stanley booth at HiMSS 2015 to learn more and discuss how we can help your Enterprise!

Last week, we were proud to reach and announce a major milestone in the launch of our Navigator Edition Version 2.0 - the first true turn-by-turn indoor navigation mobile application in commercial deployment in North America.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Solution-Partner.pngb2ap3_thumbnail_Developer-Compatible.pngThis week, we are just as proud to announce that we recently completed our IVT testing and certification as a Cisco Compatible Solution Partner for Cisco CMX and Cisco MSE 8.0.

Cisco has been a great partner to Connexient, and we are excited about their vision and plan they are executing over the next year to deliver network-based Enterprise grade indoor positioning.

With Cisco MSE 8.0 and Fast Locate Modules (for 3700 and 3600 Series AP's), Cisco has achieved its own important milestone in providing rapid refresh and positioning accuracy to support Location-Enhanced Wayfinding.

As we have talked about in our Indoor Positioning Guide and elsewhere, today Cisco MSE 8.0 + FastLocate can work hand-in-hand with a BLE deployment to deliver important capabilities that are only possible with a network-based approach.  Cisco MSE:
  1. most importantly enables engagement with a user before he/she has even downloaded an app;
  2. creates user engagement and experience opportunities that are not possible with BLE alone; and
  3. enables tracking and reporting on all devices (or 70 - 80% of devices), not just devices with an installed application.

We will be leveraging these unique capabilities of Cisco MSE in our implementation at the Global Center for Health Innovation in Cleveland - launching this Spring -  to deliver a truly innovative and powerful solution for its exhibitors.

So we are excited to start off 2015 with this important next step in our relationship with Cisco and we look forward to pushing the envelope further together with Cisco at Hospitals and other Enterprise environments.
